Vice President for Finance, University of Notre Dame
John Sejdinaj is the Vice President for Finance at the University of Notre Dame. The Finance Division includes the offices of Treasury Services, Budget and Financial Planning, Procurement Services, Northeast Neighborhood Redevelopment and the Controller’s group. His responsibilities cover University budgets, capital planning, treasury management, procurement, real estate acquisitions and development, financial reporting & analysis, accounting & financial services, tax department, research & sponsored programs accounting, payroll and accounts payable.
John joined the Notre Dame staff in 1994 as Director of Fixed Income and Cash Management in the Investment Office. From 1996-1999 he served as Director of Finance and Budgeting. Under his leadership, the office modernized budget models and processes and evolved into a service team that assists academic and administrative units on budgeting and other financial planning issues. John’s responsibilities also included oversight of the University’s Financial Aid and Student Accounts functions. Under his leadership, these offices were combined under one umbrella, the Office of Student Financial Services, in order to better serve Notre Dame families. John was promoted to Assistant Vice President for Finance in 1999, and in 2002 became the Vice President for Finance.
John serves as Chairman of the Tuition Plan Consortium, as President of the Fischoff National Chamber Music Association Board of Directors, as Treasurer of the South Bend Center for the Homeless and as a member of several other boards including the Alliance for Catholic Education Advisory Board, Tantur Ecumenical Institute Advisory Board, Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center Integrated Finance Committee, and on the Investment Committee for the Sisters of Saint Francis.
John earned a bachelor’s degree from Notre Dame in 1981 and a master of business administration degree from DePaul University in 1984. Prior to returning to Notre Dame, John enjoyed a successful career in the banking and investment banking at First Chicago Corporation.
John’s wife, Jeny, is a 1982 Notre Dame graduate. She earned her master of education through the ACE (Alliance for Catholic Education) Program at Notre Dame in 2003 and her certification in educational administration through ACE Leadership in 2006.
The Sejdinaj’s are the parents of one son, Alex, who is a graduate of the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University.
